Four reasons why a resting period with God is important

Image
A friend of mine once told me this: "the world has conditioned us to think that if we are not at a certain place at a certain age gaining a number of experiences then we are failing or falling behind.  But, our measure of success should not be based on society standards, but on the story that God has written for our lives. It is not what it looks like but behind the scenes that count; focus on how things lined up for you in this time of your life. If you know that you are doing everything that God has told you to do then trust that you are exactly where he needs you to be. Value the season you are in and continue to trust in the process that God is leading you in this season of rest." It's been a while since I blogged, but between trying to figure out my career and the direction God is leading me in my life, I decided to take a break. In the past couple of years, I've been in a resting/waiting period when it comes to my career and the overall direction of where my li...

Promise Land

Image
Google Image My tears have become my food And the pillow beneath my head Keeping me up at night A running stream I sowed in  And began to grow In the midst of sorrow,  I planted my seed In the place that felt forgotten  There, it started to turn green Light shining through the darkness I started to see My days have come My mourning turned to dance My tears to laughter My pain to peace Under the open heavens  You finally came to me... ...My harvest of joy At the break of dawn You fought for me Now the lines have fallen in pleasant places My inheritance, you are secured Underneath the open heavens Crossing over, my freedom is ensured  As I finally enter the land you've promised ©      ~ Star Latty Hi everyone, it's been a while since I have written a blog but so much has been happening and if any one of you follow me on social media you would know the big news! I have started my own business and it's A LOT but I am so grateful that the Lord mad...

From a time of being broken down to built up

Image
Sometimes you have to be broken down in order to be built back up to the person that God has called you to be. "Break me to mend me again" is something I did not pray and ask the Lord for but it was what I really needed. For years, I struggled with my faith but it was not as extreme as this past year. The "good" difference with last year leading up to this year is that throughout my struggles I was able to encounter God more than I ever did before. It reminded me of this one scripture that says, "the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (psalm 34:18). God showed me that he was not afraid of seeing me in my mess and that in fact he did not want me to pretend to be perfect with him. It's also impossible to hide anything with God (lol), as he knows our every thought and what is in our hearts. God saw that my heart was burdened and he started to take away those burdens daily, as I felt it one by one being lifted off...

Healing Waters

Image
Lord Let your healing water flow Let it refresh and grow The recesses of my mind  Like a sponge  Let it suck up negativity  Lord let your healing water flow Let it go down to my soul Like a well watered garden Let it water these dry bones Lord let your healing water flow Let it enter my heart Soothing the aches and pains Like a generator, Let it give me a fresh start Lord let your healing water flow Let it fill up my womb Like a never ending spring, springing forth Blessing every disfunction Let it birth something new Lord, Let it travel throughout my body Let its remanence release Healing,  From every infirmity And let it set me free  When your healing water flows   ©      ~ Star Latty

Waiting on God

Image
"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31)." Have you ever wished you could just rise up above everything and everyone and fly up to the sky like the birds where there seem to be no obstacles and where literally there is no limit? I've had that feeling, especially when stuck in traffic (lol),  wishing that I could fly to get to where  I am going faster without delays, but sadly life is not like that and sometimes we just have to wait.  Waiting is something that is unavoidable in life but it teaches us a great lesson about patience. It is also an action that you continually engage in if you are a believer of Christ and waiting on the promise that he will come back for his church. For this reason, waiting is  something that is not new when it comes to  those in the bible and a prime example is Abraham who waited 25 years t...

The wilderness: A period of correction, reconciliation and transformation

Image
Sometimes God will have us out in the wilderness so that he can separate us from everything else to deeply work on us. In the wilderness, you get tempted. In the wilderness, you will sometimes face correction. In the wilderness, you will encounter tests, trials, and tribulations. In the wilderness, God is refining you. The wilderness is not meant to break us, we are supposed to overcome just like Jesus did, and when we do we come out truly transformed. In order to truly grow you have to face those hard times, the enemy in your life, and sometimes you even have to face yourself.      Some of you are probably wondering what is a "wilderness period"? The wilderness period refers to the time when Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days and nights fasting, a time when he was tempted by the devil but overcame him. During those times, Jesus was being refined and when he was being refined he was being tested, and by the end, he came out transformed into his...

A Season in the Valley: Addressing those Times of Struggle in your Faith

Image
The Hidden Place ~  Take me to the place where the little cabin sits within a grassy meadow with mountains all around facing the sea. The crystal white sand beginning where the meadow ends stretches forth into the cool water that beckons me from afar. I feel at peace here; unplugged and with no one around but just me and God. I feel free here from my heavy burdens. I needed this. This is our meeting place, hidden from the rest of the world. This is a place that I envisioned when I was meditating one night. Sometimes we just need that time and space where we can just separate ourselves from the rest of the world to hear the voice of God more clearly.   Like I mentioned in my previous blog, Sometimes I fall , we go through different seasons in our lives, and sometimes they are low seasons. Seasons where we find ourselves in the valley feeling; dry, weary, or altogether just distant from God. In this series of blogs that I will be sharing, I will be taking you guys t...
