This too Shall Pass: Faith over Fear

Image
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:  A time to be born, and a time to die;.../A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;.../ A time to keep silence and a time to speak;...A time for war, and a time for peace" (Ecclesiastes 3:8).          Have you ever heard of the saying that there is a season for everything? Well that saying  first came from the word of God and in this passage God is telling us that nothing on this earth lasts forever; events, situations, troubles and even times where things seem to go our way has an expiration date. I know that sounds harsh but just think about it, how would we grow? Life is not a straight line, there will be ups and downs but what is comforting to know is that God doesn't change and is present through the good times and the bad. I know that some people ...

Moonlight

Moonlight Under watchful gaze You follow me Lighting up the stage Waves crash into one another Violently slapping tiny grains Sunken footsteps fade away Roaring sound of you carries As something magical calls me out to sea I dive in underneath the moonlight ©      ~ Star Latty

A Meditation on God's Love

Image
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God: and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God/God is love" (1 John 4:7-8). Lately, I've been meditating on love and not the fairytale, romance and worldly love that we learn about through movies and story books. It's a love that is above it all, a grander more powerful kind of love... and that's the love of God.  Love first manifested when God gave his only son to the world so that we may be forgiven of our sins. Jesus died for people that hated him, shunned him, beat him and he still said Lord forgive them, they do not know what they are doing! Can you imagine that? No man on earth would ever do this and that's why God's love is the greatest! That is why as believers "we love him because he has loved us first" (1 John 4:19), even when we didn't deserve it.  His love is perfect, no other love of this world can ever compare to God's love and because we are his children ...

An Ending Chapter

Image
As I stare out into the horizon where the last rays of sunlight covers over the city, I think to myself... My time is coming to an end here and this first new chapter is finishing, what's next for me? Stepping out of the airport into the fresh crisp Canadian air I felt strange but it was almost like I never left and the months I've stayed in Spain was a long dream. Even when I went to the airport saying goodbye to my two good friends Jess and Olga, we couldn't even fathom that I was really leaving this beautiful country.  To say my time in Spain was a good decision and experience is an understatement. I'm not trying to be over-dramatic here but I would say it was a life-changing decision and experience because it opened my eyes to so much possibilities and different ways of living. I feel like I was ignorant to the rest of the world living in Canada and just experiencing the western lifestyle. The only places I've ever traveled outside of Canada to i...

Christmas in England

Image
Would it be appropriate to say "I'm back and I'm better"? I did not even consult myself in agreeing to take a break... lol but on a serious note this inconsistency needs to stop ASAP. Not a good way to start my year, especially with this new personal project that I have set for myself. Any-who, even though this is a month and a half late, I thought It would be a great idea to share my experience of spending Christmas in England! Welcome to England! When thinking of England you think of a gloomy rainy country with the cool iconic red double decker buses and telephone booths. You also think about things to see like Big Ben, London eye, Oxford street, Buckingham palace and a lot of other cool touristy, popular activities. This is exactly what I got to experience, however, I was lucky enough not to have any rainy weather during my visit except on the last day when I was leaving. I would say the best day I had was when I went on a boat ride that showed a nice vie...

New Year, New Vision 2020

Image
Happy New Years guys! I hope everyone had a great holiday with family and friends! I've been majorly slacking on my blogs but I will give myself the excuse of "It was Christmas break" and I also have exams after the holidays, which sucks but I am back on schedule!  I decided to bring in this new year not with the typical thought in mind "New Year, New Me" but with a New Vision. "New Year, New Me" doesn't automatically bring a sudden change within you and to be honest I just find the phrase an empty promise. Most of us never even keep up with the things we say we would throughout the year and lets be honest, some of us just use it because its a good Instagram caption. So, why don't we get rid of the empty promise of "New Year, New Me" and use a phrase that is more than a promise but a vision of what you want to be, accomplish or change in this new year. Did you know having a vision is a very powerful manifestation be...

Is God Real?

Image
Some people say that a dream is just the result of a natural human functioning because it's a reflection of our subconsciousness and I couldn't agree more... but  have you ever thought of a dream as being something beyond just your "sub-conscience"? Have you ever wondered if some of what you dream or experience in a dream can have a deeper meaning?       What if I told you that dreams, which you have always seen as natural, can be used in a supernatural way. What  if I told you a dream can be a way for God to communicate with you.  What if I told you that God is real and he gave me this exact message in a dream to tell you...      While sitting and contemplating on how I would write this next blog post, and one in which I know might not be well received by some people, I had to ask God to guide me on what I am about to tell you. He led me to a specific verse found in Job, a chapter in the bible that I have never read befor...
